This is my contents page, i've changed it around alot from the colour schemes to the layouts, I now have all the pages in lists underneath each other and easy to follow and read. You can understand them all as the colours of them match and you can read them perfectly even though the background is a difficult to read agasint, that is why there is a background on them and the the opacity is turned down to made it transparrent.
I think the image used works well with the type of my magazine im going for, and links in well with the front cover.

Evaluation Q7.

After doing my preliminary task and then moving onto this one, i've really progressed on how to use photoshop and making my pictures better to use for my magazine pages. I think this is a great skill to have as it made my pictures better helping me make them better and to suit my style of my magazine more. I used tools such as colour schemes and the healing tool to cover up any parts i didn't like or shoouldnt be there. I also used the clone tool to help copy other parts of the picture over and complete the picture, i needed to use this tool on my double page as i really needed the image background to all be one colour and it wasn't i needed it to be all one colour so that my text could be seen through it. I had to add a background and dim it down on the 'opacity' so that the background could of still been seen through as i really liked it. I also think that my images were in better condition on my magazine than what they were in my preliminary task.

Evaluation Q6

I've learnt how to take a variety of pictures and pick a best one out of them for certain pages of my magazine. I had to decide which of my pictures would suit what page, i had to make sure the levels on the picture were the right colour and would be able to match the page perfectly. I also learnt how to change all the levels on pictures using photoshop which after doing this excersice i've become more familiar with. I also think im learnt during the constructing of my magazine, how to write articles and make it suitable for my magazine and link it in with the music side which was the given task.

Evaluation Q5.

I think i most attracted this target audience down to the picture and colour schemes in which were used, i think they really work well in the indie side of music, the images really relate to the indie music having the smoking and the clothes in which are been worn for this main image, the colour schemes i would also say work well as they don't really use bright bold colours which stand out and that is why my magazine isnt in bright colours, they just all stand out from the black and white backgrounds.

Evaluation Q4.

I think the audience for my media product (magazine) would be around 15-19 year olds, within the indie style too, i think this is the best age group and who listen to the indie type of music which would actually fit the type of magazine i've produced. I think, this age group is a good one to base my magazine around as there is alot of people within this aged group that relate to this stereotype, and the music in which is produced the type 'indie' sells there music to that age group aswell, i know this as i've researched it.

Evaluation Q3.

I think the NME magazine relates to mine by having it as a music magazine, which is what mine is although my magazine is a indie baised i think this magazine still links in but would need to be pushed fiurther to have it fully linked with my music type, the publisher of NME is Robert Tame, he started a website alongside Steve Sutherland, I think Robert Tame would help with my magazine seem so hes had such a big hit with his own magazine, he would also give me the help into how to sell my magazine, using the right tecniques such as starting a website and online things to help it be sold, i think we've both worked in the same way as to research what the public want and how good we think it would sell once it's been published.

Evaluation Q2.

I think my media product represents particular social groups as the style from the 80's is coming backout, and i think my magazine links in with this, I think this is because the indie style is shown threw out my magazine and this would help my chosen target audience relise it's linked in with them and they would pick it up to buy it. Where as i don't think you would get a glamorous type person wanting to buy this magazine and i wouldn't think it would suit them and they wouldnt want to buy it because there will not be anything in the magazine that would intrest them in any way making them want to buy it. On the other hand, the audience in which this appeals to i think would be able to relise straight away, with the dark coloured backgrounds and the images in which are very stereotype would suit them more than this magazine would do to anyone else.

Evaluation Q1

I've selected nine frames from my Front cover, double page spread and contents! I've looked at my masthead 'UrBaNLow' i think this title works well with my theme of my magazine, i think it looks good how all the letters are different (lower case and upper case) I think the colours of the title also work well as they match the colour scheme of my magazine. On the other hand i think this is alot different from other magazines, as it's a longish title and most other magazines have short titles which normally are just letters but each letter stands for a individual word. When i researched some titles for inspiration for my own magazine i noticed that alot of the titles are bigger than all the other writing on the front cover to make it stand out and be the first thing the audience reads and notices when standing with alot of other magazines. I also noticed that the title is normally over part of the models face if you have a full on front viewed picture, my main image is to right hand side of the page so this wouldn't matter with me. I decided to go for the font 'Times new Roman' as i like it and i think it's very smart formal looking, and it's very eye catching and stands out. I think it works well with the chosen scheme of my magazine. The colours i've gone for for my title is the main cover being red so it stands out well agaisnt my black and white colour background, i've decided to back up the red with some white behind it, just so it stands out a lot more than it would of with one single colour.

Looking at the mise-en-scene of my front cover image, the girl is posing and looking away from the camera smoking a cigarette, this links in with the stereotype being 'indie' people lable the indie type as smoking and looking very mid 80's i think this works well with the theme of my magazine as that was the theme i was going for. When comparing this to other magazines i couldn't really find any that went with the type i was going for, most magazines out were all glamorous looking and beautiful people on the front, i dont think my magazine fits into this band and i decided to have it fit a completely different band. I did research some 'Indie' type magazines and i think my magazine would fit in well with this band as they were all very similar, having the same looking images and also having the stereotype of the smoking aswell. This also comes into the costumes and props, the cigarette being the prop which is also linked ino the majority indie type magazines and the costume in which the model is wearing also links in to the indie 80's look in which i wanted. I think this is a great way to really help the reader understand the type of magazine.

The written content from my double page spread i think is different from others as i've decided to do a article instead of a interview, i think this is a good change as i had to go into alot more detail with the article. I've set it out in a style that i think works best with my magazine. I did orginally start out with a interview but i didnt think it was working well with my magazine and i was having trouble writing it, that is when i decided to write a article instead of a interview. The font of this text is Script MT Bold i think it is a very formal looking text and goes well with the type of article im trying to write. I had to dim the background of the text so the writing could be seen since it's a white colour, it wasnt showing up very well and it was very hard to read agasint my chosen background.

I think the music genre of my magazine is rather easy to tell as i have alot of things in which could suggest this. The music genre is 'indie rock' and i think this can be easily told from the vibes my magazine gives off, for example the front cover image can give this off look as it's dressed as they would of done in the 80's, aswell as the cigarette being in the image i think this gives off the type of music aswell seem so it's very stereotyped in that genre type.

I would say the layout of my magazine pages are very plain and different from others, i'd say this because there isn't that much cramed on one page like you would see in normal magazines, i don't really like reading magazines like that and that is why i decided to have my own music magazine very plain and simple to me and the target audience, you can understand everything on the page clearly. The contents page is layed out easy and titled so everything can be read and understood clearly. I think this is a good idea and people will be more intrested into buying this magazine when its more easy to understand and read. All of the colours go together and every font matches the theme of the page.

My contents page is clearly set out and understandable, i think the colour scheme matches the whole magazine and fits the type of the magazine im going for. All of the text is in different fonts some in which are in times new roman, arial and Script MT Bold i think it looks good on the page as there all different and match the parts in which there addressed to. They are all easy to read and can be followed quickly to the page. I think the main image is great and links in perfectly with the front cover image, although the background to my contents isnt in black and white i still think the colour scheme goes well and really helps the whole magazine fit together.

This is a screen shot of my front cover, Orginally, i had the cover all in black grey and white without any colour, after plenty feedback from the class i decided to try some colour in with the cover, i think it made a great impact and i think it looks a lot better than what it did to start with. I had made alot of changes from my orginal one and i think everything i've changed makes my magazine look more up to date and a lot like what the age band of people i was aiming it at would go for, I think that all of the text is easy to read and understand able and I also think it's interesting in order for people to want to buy it. I still think there could be room for improvement, but i think in the time alocated i've done well to get this far and have the outcome like this. I also think if i had more time to focus on this i would really push my boundaries to access the highest marks bands and come out with a better grade overall.
